ThreadSafe is a backup and migration tool for PHP web applications. One instance looks after many sites: it backs them up, restores them on another domain, path or database, and adjusts the application on the way, so that a live shop becomes a working dev copy or a lost site is rebuilt from nothing. It knows PrestaShop, Joomla and WordPress and treats any other PHP site with a database as a generic site. Everything works in small steps that fit the limits of shared hosting, backups are standard ZIP archives with the database as plain SQL, and they can be encrypted.

Features:
- Supports PrestaShop 9, Joomla 5 and 6, WordPress 6 and 7, or an arbitrary PHP site with a database.
- Keep a profile for each site, with its database settings and what to leave out.
- Back up the files and the database into standard ZIP archives with the database as plain SQL; there is no lock-in.
- Work in small, resumable steps that fit the time and memory limits of a web request; an interrupted run goes on where it stopped.
- Restore on another domain, path, database or table prefix; old data in database and files are adjusted by the website type.
- Make a dev copy that sends no mail, talks to no payment provider and is kept out of search engines.
- Rebuild a site from nothing with threadsafe-restore.php, a single file with a wizard that works on a host where nothing else is installed.
- Back up a site that has no ThreadSafe with threadsafe-backup.php, a single file with a wizard.
- Check what a restore needs before anything is written: PHP, database, free space, collations.
- Plan backups with plain settings (every day at 03:30, certain weekdays, a month, paused) on one central page; a single cron job starts every backup that is due.
- Keep old backups under rules (how many, how old, how large), with pinned backups that are never removed.
- Encrypt backups in the format of age, with public keys or a passphrase; the web interface never holds a secret key.
- Use a web interface with a dashboard, progress bars, checks, deletion and download, and a login with an optional second factor.
- Install with one file (threadsafe-install.php) and update from the web interface, with a health check and a roll-back if the new version does not start.
- Runs in plain PHP 8.4+ on MariaDB and MySQL, on shared hosting or your own server.
